A Day Beyond Belief

Today has been a day greater than any other day could possibly be.

It snowed. Like, real snow. The kind you see on stamps and cards, but never on the ground, not here in the South. Last time I checked, which was about 30 seconds ago (yeah, I really love snow. Absence makes the heart grow fonder...), Nashville has been blanketed with 6.5 inches of snow. For those of you up North, please please don't scoff. I got my first real snow day this year because we had a 1" layer of ice under 1.5 inches of snow. I thought that was great, but today class was canceled again. The last time (apart from this year) that I had a snow day was first grade. Now, I get two snow days in one year. Yay!!

Well, to celebrate, I stayed inside instead of the thrifting adventure I'd planned, perusing Etsy in search of random old things like barkcloth curtains, Victorian corsages, pairs of pince-nez spectacles, quirky brooches, and 1930's day dresses. Yep. That's a pretty good sum-up of me. I also spent a lot of time adding to my Google Reader list of subscriptions- I have fallen in love with 3 more bloglings.
-An Apple a Day (What a strong, amazing person. She really is the best gift giver in the world, too. Seriously).
-Through the Secret Keyhole (Vintage photographs, great stories... Sigh. What a dream)
-Esme and the Lane Way (Although I wouldn't trade the snow for anything at the moment, it sure must be nice to twirl around in pretty summer dresses...)

Wonderful, each and every one! I also recommend Starrified Jazzetry, a great blog for word lovers, writers, and artists alike.

Naturally, though, I had to end my perfect day with a happily ever after scene to play as the credits roll.
So, snuggled up in a cozy thrifted knit turtleneck and my favorite jeans, I went out, made a wish, and danced at 11:11 in the snow under a strangely yellow-lit sky. What better thing to do?

  1. Yeah, this winter was the BEST! The only problem being that is was all unnatural. (i.e. It was all thanks to the beautiful, the wonderful, yep, you guessed it, GLOBAL WARMING [ A dead give-away would also be that I wrote it in all caps and you silly readers can read (no duh) ahead!])
    P.S. What should I call you A.?
